The City of Twin Falls says it installed PFAS filters at drinking-water sources at Magic Valley Regional Airport after a sample from an airport well showed levels of two PFAS chemicals above federal drinking-water limits. The city posted the announcement September 29.

According to the city, a sample collected August 26 found PFOA at 9.83 parts per trillion and PFOS at 5.35 parts per trillion; the federal limit for each is 4.0 parts per trillion. The city said the results apply only to the airport well, not the broader Twin Falls water system.

The city said the filters are intended to reduce PFAS and PFOS levels below the federal limit at airport drinking-water sources, including the Happy Landing restaurant and drinking fountains. The airport is also exploring well sites with lower PFAS and PFOS levels, according to the announcement.

The city said the airport distributed a consumer notice September 22. Initial PFAS monitoring must be completed by April 2027, and compliance with federal drinking-water limits is required by April 2029, the city said. It added that one well sample above a federal limit does not by itself establish a regulatory violation; compliance is determined under the rule’s monitoring requirements.

For questions about the airport water system, the city directs residents to airport administration at 208-733-5215.
